Horn

Yris started her musical studies in Venezuela with Delfino Nuñez, Fernando Ruiz, Joel Arias, and Paul Miller. She completed her bachelor’s degree with honors in music performance in French Horn in May 2003 from the University of Florida.

In Miami, Yris studied horn with Glenn Janson, Jerry Peel, and Gregory Miller during their time in Miami. During her masters she had lessons with Dale Clevenger, Roland Pandolfi, and legendary John de Lancie (for chamber music). She completed 3 years of Master on horn pedagogy with the amazing horn player Andre Cazalet at the Beracasa Foundation, in Caracas, Venezuela. In addition, she had master lessons with Radovan Vlatkovic, Bruce Heim, Javier Bonet, and Lisa Ford, including chamber music lessons with the amazing Martha Gulyas at the Reyna Sofia Sommer camp in Spain.

She has played in most of the symphony orchestras of Caracas, Venezuela. In the USA, she played 1st and 3rd horn at the Miami Symphony orchestra and was a freelancer in several orchestras in Florida.

In Norway, she has been horn instructor for youth at several schools such us: Ullevål skoles musikkorps. Vinderen, Grünerløkka, Ammerud and Grefsen skoles musikkorps and freelanced at Oslo and Bærum Musikk og kultur skole. In 2016, she was divinely and lovely inspired to record her first CD, “In Solitude’’. In creating this CD, she received special advice from several great Latin-American musicians, including Jorge Glem, Orlando Cardozo.
