Portia Njoku, a composer, tubist, and music educator, holds a BA degree in Music Composition and Theory from UC Davis and a double MMus degree in Music Composition and Tuba Performance from CSU Sacramento. As an active performer, Ms. Njoku, has held principal positions with many ensembles and continues to freelance with various chamber ensembles throughout the Sacramento region. ​As a composer, Ms. Njoku composes for all types of chamber groups and modern dance collaborations. In addition to performance and composition, Ms. Njoku is a Music Lecturer in Tuba at UC Davis and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at both American River and Folsom Lake Colleges. Currently, Ms. Njoku is working to increase interest and awareness of the tuba to music fans of all ages throughout the region.
