Born in Salvador (Bahia, Brazil) Paula Guimarares began her music studies in high school. She became a founding member of NEOJIBÁ - a music program for children and young adults. From there, she left to pursue her studies and returned later on as music instructor and orchestral section leader of the main youth orchestra. She performed with YOBA (Youth Orchestra of Bahia) throughout Europa, United States and Brazil. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Nicholls State University (Thibodaux, LA) and a Master’s degree in Performing Arts from University of Chichester (England). She won first prize at the Brazilian French horn Association Symposium competition for young soloist (2016) and a chair at OSUFBA (Federal University of Bahia Symphony, 2018). She is also a founder member of the OFB (All Female Octet of Brazil), created in 2020 during the pandemic.
